Lawn Fertilization
North Texas clay soil locks up nutrients differently than the sandy or loam soils most national fertilizer programs are designed around, and Bermuda and St. Augustine each want fertilizer on a different schedule. A generic big-box spreader program applied on the wrong week can do more harm than good — burning St. Augustine in July heat, or feeding Bermuda right when it should be slowing down for dormancy. We build the program around your grass and this soil, not a national average.

What's Included
- Custom program for Bermuda or St. Augustine (not a one-size schedule)
- Pre-emergent weed control timed to North Texas spring and fall windows
- Slow-release fertilizer suited to clay soil nutrient retention
- Fire ant and common lawn pest treatment options
- Kid- and pet-safe application scheduling and posting
Typical Pricing
$65–$110 per application
Based on a standard 5-7 round annual program; per-visit cost is usually lower when booked as a full-season plan rather than one-off treatments. Lot size and whether fire ant or grub treatment is added both affect the price.
How It Works
- 1
Lawn & soil check
We identify your grass type and look for existing problem signs — thin patches, fungus, weed pressure — before building a program.
- 2
Custom program design
We schedule rounds around North Texas's actual growing calendar, not a generic national timeline.
- 3
Scheduled applications
Typically 5-7 rounds per year, spaced to match green-up, summer stress, and fall pre-dormancy needs.
- 4
Monitoring & adjustment
We watch how the lawn responds between visits and adjust the next round if we see fungus, pest pressure, or a nutrient gap.
Common Lawn Fertilization Problems We See
Over-fertilizing St. Augustine in summer heat
A heavy nitrogen application during a 100°F stretch can push growth the lawn can't support and lead to burn or fungus. We back off nitrogen in the hottest rounds for St. Augustine specifically.
Clay soil nutrient lockup
Heavy clay binds certain nutrients more tightly than loam or sandy soil, meaning some fertilizers underperform here even at label rates. We select slow-release formulations that work better in this soil type.
Fire ants and brown patch fungus
Both are common regional problems — fire ants year-round, brown patch especially in humid, mild fall weather. We watch for both during scheduled visits and can add treatment when we see early signs.
Seasonal timing: The heaviest fertilization activity runs March through June as lawns green up and need the most support, tapers through the hottest part of summer to avoid burn risk, and finishes with a fall round to build root strength before winter dormancy.

When should I fertilize my lawn in North Texas?
For Bermuda and St. Augustine, the first feeding should wait until the lawn has fully greened up in spring, typically mid-to-late April, not earlier — feeding while the lawn is still dormant just feeds weeds. From there, most North Texas lawns do well on rounds roughly every 6-8 weeks through the growing season, with a lighter fall application before dormancy and no fertilizing in winter. Timing shifts a bit year to year depending on how late the last freeze runs.
What's the difference between a Bermuda program and a St. Augustine program?
Bermuda is more heat- and traffic-tolerant and can handle a slightly more aggressive nitrogen schedule through summer. St. Augustine is more shade-tolerant but more heat- and drought-sensitive, so over-fertilizing it in July can actually burn the lawn or invite fungus like brown patch. We run different product and timing choices for each, and for yards with a mix of both, we schedule around whichever grass dominates the visible areas.
Is your weed control safe for kids and pets?
Yes — we use products applied at labeled rates with standard safety intervals, and we post the yard after treatment so you know exactly when it's safe for kids and pets to go back on the grass (typically once the application has dried, usually a few hours). If you have specific sensitivities or a pet that eats grass, let us know and we'll flag the reentry window clearly for that visit.
Why does my lawn still have weeds after treatment?
Pre-emergent weed control stops new weed seeds from germinating but doesn't kill weeds already growing, so if it's applied after weeds have sprouted, you'll still see some until the next post-emergent round. North Texas's mild winters also mean weed seeds can germinate in more windows than in colder climates, which is why timing the pre-emergent rounds correctly in early spring and early fall matters more here than in a lot of other regions.
